SixNationState bassist John Maskell, who plays all of the band’s live shows barefooted, suffered a horrific injury while onstage in London on Tuesday night.
During their album launch party at The Borderline, Maskell thought it would be a good idea to go crowd surfing. On his way back to the stage, he landed on a wine glass and suffered a 7inch laceration to his left foot.
Amazing he continued with the gig, performing their song ‘Up & Down’. It was only when a nurse got up on the stage that an ambulance was called and he was whisked to St Thomas’ hospital.
Medical tests have revealed that the bass severed two tendons in his foot which he underwent surgery to get sewn back together.
He’s been ordered to rest by doctors for ten days. The rest of the band will continue their touring commitments with a stand in bassist.
