George Michael began his 100 hour community service duty yesterday (August 13th) after his conviction in May for driving whilst unfit.

Michael was found slumped over his steering wheel in October 2006 in Central London with what Police claimed was a lethal concoction of drugs - including GHB and cannabis - in his system.

The former Wham star arrived at a London homeless shelter on Monday in a chauffer driven car and then helped out with work in the garden, reports WENN.

Michael said yesterday: "I'm just like everyone else. If you do something stupid, you have to pay the price. I've been doing some gardening and really enjoyed it.

"I'll do whatever they want me to do. I don't want any special treatment."

Part of his conviction also includes a two year ban from driving.

  • They ought to send him to the Heath instead to clear up litter. It could really do with some cleaning up.

  • I admire the way George is just getting on with it and not kicking up a fuss like some other stars would! Yeah he made a foolish mistake but he’s trying to rectify the situation and he is such a talented artist that his music will never be clouded by it.

  • how come George gets 100 hours for falling asleep in heavy non moving traffic, YET teenagers get away with street fighting, vandalism, grafitti, criminal damage, car theft, joyriding, burning out cars, and NOTHING happens to them ? Ahem.....talk about victimising people who are well off...........

  • What is the point of this sentence ? Will all the aggressive dangerous out of control youths turn to angels overnight , once they see that even famous people can get prosecuted ? err, dont think so.... nothing will happen, just another pointless ’example’ aimed at the masses, who get to genuine crime and get away it, as no one cares about them ( Media wise ).
