Wyclef Jean Slams Lauryn Hill

It doesn’t look like a Fugees reunion is going to happen anytime soon - Wyclef Jean has lashed out at former band mate Lauryn Hill, claiming that her diva ways and desire to produce is what’s stopping them from re-forming.

Speaking to Scratch Magazine, he said: “Lauryn is straight up the problem, bro. She wants to be a producer. Don’t come telling us how to chop up beats so you can get credit for it.”

Wyclef goes on to describe Hill's diva-like tendencies.

“Don’t come back and be like, 'I wanna produce a beat.' That’s like me saying I wanna sing an R&B vocal.

"When we was working on the album, I was like, [to Lauryn], 'You need to do this like this.' [And] she says, 'How do you know what’s relevant? I haven’t heard anything from you in the past like three, four years?' The minute she said that I was like, I gotta go back to working.”

“If you bring Clef to the studio, put an MP, put an SP, put a bunch of stuff, bring a bunch of cameras [and] say, Clef, do a beat in two minutes. The beat’s done!

"Bring Lauryn Hill in the studio with the same camera, say we give you three hours. Matter fact, fuck it, we’ll give you a month—do a beat. She can’t put it together!”

  • Well to me it seems that Wyclef wants to be responsible for everything. I would’t want to work with his selfish ass either. I think he scared her track gone sound better than his. you can’t put a limit on someone creativity. Also her trying to produce is not in comparison with him trying to sing. We all know that. If it did take place I would put my life on it that MS. Hill would win. People that have the actions that Wyclef has are scared that that person might just out shine their

  • Wyclef is correct. Have been in the studio with both of them. Clef is a seasoned Pro in the studio. Ms. Hill wastes alot of expensive Studio & Musician time & is too much of a Diva to do her prep in pre production. While she does have some great ideas but Miseducation was Really co produced by the legendary then Sony producer Gordon Williams (Leila James) while his wife Suzette Williams kept the project together for the label. Ms. Hill trips on wanting all the credits for herself.

  • Hill’s projects are hip hop’s Chinese Democracy. The only record she’s put out in 10 years was a live performance (and a bad one at that). Put her in a studio and she’s a money pit.

  • Wateva man, Lauryn is a talented lady and like it has been said before...can’t put a limit on creativity. Lauryn has the beauty and the voice and has more tracks then wyclef his self...O and lauryn blew wyclef out the water when the fugees broke up wit her hit cd ”Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”

  • i think he needs to accept that people can grow and develope and that way back when she was 20 maybe beats weren’t her thing but she has had time to grow and develop as an artist where as wyclef... well say no more

  • Shiet . Wyclef is a good producer and had worked for the name and you bitches who don't shiet about music makin stupid comments about him stay in your corner. Yea ppl do grow but everyone can do something but noone can do everything; Lauren has to accept the fact she is not a producer, and creating one beat aint going to make her a producer also. SO both of you Wyclef and Lauren need to work that shiet out because me I need some fugees and to bitch up there calling Wyclef selfish i wana kno
