    A schoolboy in Krudersdorp, South Africa stabbed a fellow student to death and two gardeners on Monday morning (August 19) with a sword apparently high on drugs according to News 24.

    "He stabbed one of the schoolkids in the neck and he died. He then went further and stabbed a gardener in the back and another gardener in the face. They were taken to hospital in serious conditions," sated Captain Jacob Raboroko of the Johannesburg police.

    Roseanne Cash, the daughter of the late country singer Johnny Cash, says she’s appalled that her father’s name has been used to endorse US presidential candidate John McCain.

    Country singer John Rich is understood to have told a recent Republican rally in Florida that Cash would have backed Mr McCain.

    He said: “Somebody's got to walk the line in the country. They've got to walk it unapologetically.

    “And I'm sure Johnny Cash would have been a John McCain supporter if he was still around."

    Jack Black fears Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama may stop him performing at a campaign concert next month after he “killed” the campaigns of previous politicians.

    Black and his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Glass are scheduled to perform at an Obama benefit event at Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on September 23rd.

    Despite admitting that Mr Obama was “the better candidate” and “more in line with our views”, Black said he was worried the former Illinois senator may cancel they appearance.

    “We've been doing political benefits for years and it's an endorsement. I did it for (Senator) John Carey and that didn't work. We've supported lots of different causes; tried to legalise weed and that didn't work,” Black said.

    Presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and John McCain have each unveiled their top-ten favourite songs ever.

    In what are two very different lists, Frank Sinatra was the only musician that both candidates agreed on - with Mr Obama choosing Sinatra's 'You'd Be So Easy To Love' and McCain selecting 'I've Got You Under My Skin'.

    Fugees 'Ready Or Not' topped Mr Obama's list, while 'Dancing Queen' by Abba is Mr McCain's favourite song.

    Overall, Democrat Mr Obama selected a far more diverse collection of musicians, ranging from Bruce Springsteen's 'I'm On Fire' to 'Touch the Sky' by US rapper Kanye West.

    US democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama has apparently asked soul singer Joss Stone to write the official song for his election campaign.

    Mr Obama approached the singer because he is impressed by her appeal to both white and black voters, it's claimed.

    Until now, Mr Obama's campaign speeches have been accompanied by previously released tracks.

    Speaking to the Sun newspaper, a source said Stone was “very excited” to be recording to song because she “is a big supporter of Barack Obama”.

    A spoof election video for Republican presidential candidate John McCain in which he appears to kiss Britney Spears has emerged online.

    The video fuses clips from an old interview with Spears with outakes from Mr McCain's campaign so that it plays like one continuous piece of footage.

    Towards the end of the video, Spears says: “I don't go home and have orgies or anything like that,” to which a clip with Mr McCain then goes: “Everybody That I Know Does”.

    The video also features a still image of the notorious kiss Spears shared with Madonna at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2003 – only a photo Mr McCain appears instead of Madonna.

    Republican John McCain's bid to become the next president of the United States has attracted the support of little known country singer John Rich.

    Rich has written a song, entitled 'Raising McCain', which focuses on the five-and-a-half years Mr McCain spent as a prisoner of war during the Vietnamese war.

    "He stayed strong, stayed extra long til they let all the other boys out. Now we've got a real man with an American plan, we're going to put him in the big White House,” Rich sings.

    Speaking about the track, which Rich will debut tomorrow, the singer said Mr McCain had generated his new interest in politics and that he hopes the song captures his “maverick spirit”.

    Jarvis Cocker announced last Monday night (July 21) on stage that he feels the American media is unfair to presidential candidate Barack Obama.

    “They’re really taking the piss out of Barack Obama (on the news) and its really not fair”, the singer stated on stage during his performance in Brooklyn at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg.

    “What I am saying is kill all those capitalist bastards…and then piss on their ashes”, said Cocker right before performing his hit ‘Cunts Are Still Ruling he World’.

    Cocker wrapped up his short tour of the States last Tuesday in New York at Terminal 5.

    Obama is understood to have left a slot open in his schedule in order to make an appearance at the festival, which runs in his hometown of Chicago from August 1st-3rd.

    This year's festival will feature headlining performances from Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine and Kanye West.

    Obama as often acknowledged the importance of popular music during his bid to become America's first black president.
