    US rappers Jay-Z and P Diddy have signed an open letter on behalf of Democrat Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

    The letter, which has also been signed by Mary J. Blige and former Def Jam president Kevin Liles, encourages voters to prepare for Election Day next Tuesday (November 4th).

    “With only 7 days left before we vote for change, let's hold ourselves accountable and responsible,” the letter says.

    “No more excuses, no more mistakes and no more time to waste.

    US rapper P Diddy has dressed as democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama in a video message to his fans.

    In the video – which can seen below – P Diddy, a passionate supporter of the Illinois senator, urges voters not to get complacent ahead of next Tuesday's election.

    Although Mr Obama is currently leading Republican rival John McCain in the polls, the rapper told people to “not believe the polls”.

    “The polls are trying to say that my mother from another brother is up leading in the polls by ten points,” the rapper says.

    Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin publicly endorsed Democrat Barack Obama during an appearance on Saturday Night Live last night (October 25th).

    Martin displayed a white armband with the presidential hopeful’s name on and shouted “Barack Obama” as Coldplay’s three-song performance on the programme ended.

    Last June, Martin told Rolling Stone that people would become “a bit more optimistic” if Mr Obama successfully defeats rival Republican John McCain in America’s general election next month.

    “If Obama was to be president, it would immediately change the whole outside world's opinion of America overnight,” the singer said.

    Scott Weiland has endorsed Democrat Barack Obama's bid to become the next president of the United States.

    The Stone Temple Pilots frontman said Mr Obama had the credentials to help reinvigorate America.

    "Barack Obama is the leader, the listener and the visionary with international respect to take us from the depths of where we are today and bring us to a new place where dreams are made; that place is called America,” Weiland wrote on his blog.

    "It's our imperfections and our willingness to persevere that makes us stronger."

    Adele's debut album '19' has topped the US iTunes digital chart following the singer's performance on last weekend's Saturday Night Live.

    The singer's appearance on the programme coincided with a special guest slot from vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

    The Republican took her campaign to SNL after the comedian Tina Fey began mimicking her on the show.

    Over recent weeks, Fey, who shares an uncanny resemblance to the Alaskan governor, has been presenting false speeches and policies while dressed as the politician.

    The rapper spoke in favour of the Democratic candidate during an interview with the BBC.

    Speaking to DJ Zane Lowe, he said: "I'll vote for Barack. I can't get too political because I don't know enough [about the candidates' policies].

    "I mean, I know we are going into a recession. Pardon the cliché but we need something to change.

    A man who killed his wife after she updated her relationship status to “single” on the social networking website Facebook has been jailed for life.

    34-year-old Wayne Forrester told police he had been left “totally devastated and humiliated” when his wife, Emma, began looking to meet other men.

    The Old Bailey heard how Forrester stabbed his wife with a knife and a meat cleaver last February at their marital home in South London.

    The HGV driver, who was high on drink and drugs at the time, beat Ms Forrester and pulled her hair out while she was still asleep. She was 34.

    Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel united on stage in New York last night to show why they believe Barack Obama is 'born to run' for US president.

    The two singers performed each others songs at a fundraising event for the Democrat candidate.

    Tracks in their set included Joel's 'New York State of Mind' and Springsteen's 'Born To Run', which the singer said was “for the senator”.

    Other guests at the event included John Legend and Springsteen's wife, Patti Scialfa. But it was Mr Obama's appearance which stole the show at the end of the night.

    Democrat Barack Obama has turned to video games to shore up support ahead of the US presidential elections next month.

    Mr Obama has begun promoting early voting in adverts in 18 games, including Guitar Hero and Madden 09.

    The adverts target gamers in the ten states that allow voting to take place before November 4th. Florida and Ohio, two key swing states and potential keys to the White House, are included in the ten.

    The adverts, which are controlled by the games creators and updated when a console logs onto the internet, guide users to one of Mr Obama's campaign websites.

    Shakespeare's Global Theatre has launched an in-house record label which it hopes will attract more people to historical and spoken word music.

    Globe Editions' first release,  Elizabethan Street Songs – 'From The Alehouse To The Whorehouse', features a mixture of period instruments and songs from the 16th and 17th centuries.

    The label, which is based at the London theatre, is being launched by Bill Gray, a former marketing director at Tower Records.

    He told Music week that it will bring “a fresh approach in the way spoken word and early music has been hitherto presented and performed”.
