Jack White is set to have a break from The White Stripes next year to focus on his new project.
The star will be working as one half of The Raconteurs with long-time friend Brendan Benson.
The pair have already laid down some tracks for their joint album this year and Benson’s house in Detroit. The long-player is expected to be released in early 2006.
Jack told Rolling Stone magazine: "I don't want it to sound anything like the White Stripes, this is a full-on band - dual songwriters coming together, building off one another, bouncing off each other.”
Speaking about their unorthodox style of recording, Benson added: "We each went into separate rooms. He wrote a section, and I wrote a section. We didn't talk about it, we just did it, and it worked out beautifully."
The duo took their name from the French for ‘skilled teller of anecdotes.’
