Sonic youth are currently in pre-production of their next studio record which is currently entitled ‘Sonic Life’.
It will be the bands last album with Geffen records and Kim Gordon let slip recently to Belgian magazine De Morgen that the long player will be “very song orientated”.
One rumour which is unsubstantiated at the moment is that guitarist Jim O’Rourke, who joined Sonic Youth in 1999, may not play any part in the recording of new material reports Los Angeles City Beat.
Meanwhile, in other band news - back in 1999 Sonic Youth had a whole van load of equipment including custom-modified instruments and amps stolen but now it looks as if they may get them back.
Six years after the crime a mysterious fan came forward claiming that one of his family members carried out the robbery and has vowed to return most of the equipment back to them.
