Keane have been forced to pull out of their support slot for U2 in Lisbon after front man Tom Chaplin got a serious throat infection.
The band were due to play yesterday at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in the Portuguese capital but were replaced by Kaiser Chiefs at the last minute.
A message to fans on their official website reads: “Tom’s got a serious throat infection. Apart from feeling terrible, he can’t sing at all at the moment. The doctor’s been round to him and ordered a week’s rest in bed.”
“We’re completely gutted about not being able to play the gig. It has been a dream come true playing with U2, and we were especially looking forward to playing in Lisbon – one of our favourite places on earth.”
