Franz Ferdinand star Paul Thomson has ditched playing the drums in favour of becoming the band’s third guitarist.
Apparently Thomson never wanted to play drums for the much-lauded four piece and is now relishing the chance to play his favourite instrument.
An industry ‘source’ said: "There are no hard feelings and the band haven't fallen out.
"But Paul's always wanted to be a guitarist and the boys decided they'd give him his chance now."
“The riffs with three guitars are going to sound amazing.”
A drum technician has instead taken over drumming duties on the band’s second eponymous album due out later this year.
