Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis has continued to fuel speculations about who will headline this year’s event.
Following his comments on Tuesday (January 8th) that he had secured a “black American headliner”, Eavis has now revealed that the performer is from New York.
His revelation seemingly rules out the possibility that Kanye West, who was born in Chicago, will headline the June festival.
New York rapper Jay-Z has now become the favourite to headline the event, with speculation mounting that Amy Winehouse may join him after Eavis told XFM South Wales that he had “a great British female artist that’s going to support him”.
Eavis said earlier this week that he hoped the performer, whoever it may eventually be, would bring a younger audience to the festival.
This year's Glastonbury Festival runs from June 27th-29th.
