Metallica are in talks to premiere the first single from their next studio album on a new version of the Rock Band video game.
MTV senior vice president of home entertainment, Paul DeGooyer, made the announcement that Rock Band manufacturer Harmonix and MTV are planning to premier a string of new songs on updated versions of the hit computer game, the biggest draw of which is Metallica.
He told Rocky Mountain News: "There are a couple of things we've committed to, one of them with Metallica for example. They've reserved the right to give us their first single from their new album for the game."
Apart from this golden nugget of information, there’s no hint of what the track is called or when it will see the light of day. Metallica are currently holed up in the studio working on their ninth studio record.
Artists that have contributed tracks to Rock Band, which hit the shelves at the start of November, include The Who, The Rolling Stones, Fall Out Boy, Radiohead and Nirvana.

- Didn’t Metallica bitch about people downloading their songs a few years back?

- You’re all just jealous cause they’re multi-millionaires and can do whatever they want. You try writing songs for over 20 years and see if every one of them is badass every time. ;)
