Amy Winehouse Fans Blast 'Embarrassing' Birmingham Show

Calling it 'atrocious'...

Share

Amy Winehouse fans have hit out at the singer over her “embarrassing” performance in Birmingham last night, with one even claiming she is “going the way of Kurt Cobain.”

Gigwise has been inundated by messages this morning from angry fans complaining about her performance at the NIA, where she turned up late, appeared drunk throughout, hurled abuse throughout and walked off early during the encore.

One wrote: “What a complete waste of time and money. Imagine paying good money to go watch a premiership football team perform and instead they turn up pissed and play like a Sunday morning pub team!”

Another said that they left shortly after Winehouse took to the stage: “I was at the gig last night and left after 20 minutes, it was absolutely atrocious. Not only did we have to wait for an hour for her to come on. When she finally arrived, Amy wobbled around the stage, forgot the words to her songs, downed numerous amounts of drinks... I don’t think she even knew where she was...”

An impassioned comment reads: “She was spitting, dropping the mike, forgetting the words and was generally a mess. She should have cancelled and not disappointed. She is heading the same way as Kurt Cobain. So Tragic & such a waste.”

More angry fans called the show “embarrassing” and accused her of being highly intoxicated and slurring her words.

Despite these comments, others have called for the tour to be postponed and that Amy should be allowed to rest and seek help before returning to the stage.

This is summed up by Faye in Birmingham who wrote: “I think amy should pull out while she still has her fans support. I like Amy very much to watch an artist so good perform so badly, well it was just a disappointment. I hope she turns things round for her sake.”

  • Amy has a fantastic voice. It was a huge disappointment to see her perform so unprofessionally. It was the worst gig i have ever attended.

  • Please cancel this tour so she doesn’t embarrass herself further! I was at the gig last night and it was the worst I have ever been to. I left after 20 minutes as I couldn’t bear to listen to Amy. I have never left a gig early and to say I am disappointed doesn’t even come close. There are a lot of unhappy fans out there who were willing her to do well at the start of the night and it just turned into a disaster. Amy truly has an amazing talent it’s just such a shame

  • I attended the gig last night and stayed right until the end, when she dropped her mike (heavily) and stormed off stage leaving her backing singers to finish the song and say good night! I wasn’t shocked by her performance considering her personal life at the moment, and her reputation of course, at least I can say it was a memorable experience!

  • when amy sang good (which she did at some points) she sang really good, but i felt ashamed being there and watching it, aparently she said she didnt want to go on, however i imagine the management would rather her look a mess than loose money. She needs help not people booing. Most were cheering even when songs went wrong and felt sorry for her when she cried and dedicated songs. I hope she gets the help she needs soon.

  • What is the matter with you people. The girl is in deep depression, and in a state due to asll the issues we know about. I wonder how many of you would get up in front of people in her situation? Yet you come her to slag her off? Incredible. If you were expecting some plastic, every-gig-the-same, nomad, you shouldn’t have been there. FFS leave her alone and stop being so uncompassionate.

  • People have come to expect polished performances, same set in every town, night after night etc. She is a true ’rock and roll chick’, unpredictable in evey sense. I, like everyone else, would love to see Amy get the help and support she really needs, as the people around her are obviously only interested in their investment ...££££. She has a fantastic voice and I still love her tunes. We enjoyed the night regardless..... rock on Amy... xx

  • Initially, I was angry due to her keeping us waiting 45 minutes so I was in a bad mood when she finally took to the stage. But then my anger transformed into pity, heartbreak and embarrassment for her. She was an incoherent, shambling wreck. She was getting steadily more drunk through throughout the performance. It was possibly the worst performance I’ve ever seen, but there are mitigating circumstances and ultimately, after 45 minutes wait, they should have just cancelled the gig.

  • Instead of people saying how bad she is, why not structure your comments around her getting well? Drug addiction and alcohol problems are, after all an illness! I personnally, being a true fan, would rather see Amy get well and put her current problems behind her than be forced to see her struggle on stage with no support what so ever! Everybody appears to get joy out of seeing celebs struggle, it almost gives some poeple a kick as they can reflect upon there own pathetic existance as a good 1

  • We left before the end of the show couldnt bear to watch her any more, i was cringing with embarrassment for her . Amy has such a huge talent its a shame. People will stop attending her gigs in the end if this is what to expect unless she gets help.

  • I had mixed emotions by the end of the night, one part of you feels so much for her she looked such a pathetic, tragic figure on stage. The other part of me felt disappointed - it’s the second gig I have been to within a month where the singer has been out of tune and completely wrecked. These stars should remember that it’s their fans who put them there in the first place. Have never come away feeling so low from a gig! Hope Amy gets her act together before she loses her fans.

  • I was at last nights concert with my daughter, and really felt for amy. When she broke down in tears i felt like crying with her, theres nothing like kicking a dog when its down. I really hope that she gets the help that she needs to cope with her life at the moment. Shes an amazing artist, lets not forget that! I wish her inner peace and hope happiness follows.

  • My mum went the gig. I think amy is a true artist and should not be given boo’s like that. You can tell she needs help, and if this carries on, shes going to make herself seriously ill, people who slag her off, should shut up, because if you were her, you wouldent of wanted to carry on. And to me thats what a true artist is. If you lot dont believe in her... fine... but i certainly am backing her a 100 of the way. It would be a shame for her to lose such dignity. Amy, your amazing, never c

  • A good manager would have put a stop to this a long time back. However, if her management knows it is a short term ride; they will milk it for all they can get and plan an escape route well in advance of the ‘star’ getting dumped by her record company and ditched by all promoters. Guess the evidence speaks for itself what strategy her management has. PS – Amy. Your husband in jail temporarily does not allow you to turn up for work incapable - glad you are not a nurse!

  • Grow up, people, for God’s sake. Amy’s troubles have been fodder for months now. She cancelled shows due to ”health issues” and confessed to chemical addictions, bulimia and bipolar disorder. Then her husband was jailed. What did you expect? HELLO?? If you bought your £20 tickets to see a slick, wholesome pop show, you’re a moron. Face reality - that ain’t Winehouse.

  • i don’t get the Cobain comment. Surely she needs to have some talent first. Utter bint. Why have sympathy for ”stars” that choose drugs willingly. Why should we feel sad that they get the opportunity to live the dream then piss it away. Her and Doherty can fuck off and die imo.

  • To Jen, people like myself bought tickets a long time before all the S*** hit the fan. Who could have known then that she was going to be put in rehab and her husband was going to be jailed, who are you? Mystic Meg? I have been going to gigs for years and expect to see a bit of effort. I am going to Newcastle on Sunday to see her and if she is thinking of putting in a similar performance as Birmingham then I would rather she cancelled and sorted herself out. One Pete Doherty is enough.
