U2 producer Daniel Lanois says work on the Irish supergroup’s new album is “going great.”
As previously reported, Bono and co. have drafted in the legendary Brian Eno and Lanois to help write and produce the follow-up to 2004’s ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.’
The pair got together with the band earlier this summer for some preliminary recording and writing sessions.
Lanois told Rolling Stone: “We’ve been invited as writers this time. I did three writing sessions with Eno and U2 — one in Fez, Morocco; two in France. It’s going great. We’re regrouping in November.” He added that the record was “kind of making itself.”
The producer/artist is currently making a documentary about his work entitled ‘Here Is What Is’ and says that shots of U2 recording in Morocco will make it into the final cut.
He finished: “It just seemed to make sense there and I didn’t want to take advantage of those guys (U2). They’re so kind to me.
“They’re saying, ‘Lanois, you’re going to show us recording and we haven’t even put out a record yet, c’mon.’ I said, ‘Aw, please. We’re not going to give away anything and besides we’ve got twenty-five years together, throw me a biscuit.”
Lanois has worked on previous U2 efforts ‘The Unforgettable Fire’, ‘The Joshua Tree’ and ‘Achtung Baby’.
