Bad news for Strokes fans: don’t expect a new album any time soon.
While Albert Hammond Jr. is touring the globe with his solo album ‘Yours To Keep’, he says the rest of the band are putting their feet up.
Asked by Billboard whether The Strokes are working on new material, he said: “I’d be lying if I told you. Everyone is just taking a big amount of time off.”
However, Hammond Jr. says the band will get back together in some form this year, adding: “If we get offers to play European festivals, cool. And if we don't, then maybe we just work on some new music.”
The guitarist has a sting of tour dates lined up over the coming months, supporting the likes of Incubus and Bloc Party in the States, plus his own headline shows.
He says once he’s wound up, he’ll take a well deserved rest. He said: "I think I'm gonna need a break. I've been on the road since October 2005, and I'm slowly feeling like I'm falling apart or going crazy. So I don't think I could go any more than that."
