Perhaps Coldplay may actually release some interesting music after all - ambient pioneer Brian Eno is producing their new album.
The former Roxy Music musician has told BBC Radio Four he is twiddling the knobs on Coldplay's fourth album, saying the results have so far been "very original and very different from what they've done before".
Thank god for that.
The album is currently being recorded in the band's own London studio, and some of the new songs may be roadtested on their tour of Latin America next month.
