Akon Gagged By Label After Polygamy Comments

Eminem collaborator Akon has admitted his record company have put a gagging order on him after he admitted to having three wives.

The rapper, originally from Senegal, told radio interviewer Angie Martinez he was “a polygamist” who could “afford to have as many wives as I can afford to have”.

However, the unconventional comments didn’t go down well with Universal, who have now banned him from talking about it further – which Akon claims exposes the Land of the Free’s inherent hypocrisy.

He tells AllHipHop.com, “After me and Angie had that conversation, situations started getting heated. It started affecting other people that had nothing to do with us.

“Because of that, (the label) said they don't want me to promote that aspect, and I can't talk about that too much because it's destroying other people's families and other things. I said, 'Ok, no problem.'

"I gave them the word to where I won't promote it too much, to where it won't be a topic to where it starts getting tainted into those situations. Unfortunately, this is the world we live in, people do judge you by your beliefs and how you think. It's a free country, but it's really not free."

  • I don’t agree with marrying more than one person, but if that’s his belief than they shouldn’t prevent him from talking about it. maybe he could educate others about it, so they wouldn’t be so quick to judge. I’m dating someone that is African, and I don’t know if I could go along with that but if I did decide to do that I would have to be the #1 lady, and they wouldn’t be touching him. I’ll think of it as they just some maids to me.

  • It is crazy to believe that all men should have one wife. Look @ the fallacy of this western European society we live in. A boy grows up believing that he can have only one wife and do what? Sex up as many women as he can LEGALLY because he knows that they are not his wives. He’s waiting for that ”soul mate”. (??!!) What crap!!! In righteous societies that understand the truth of polygyny, these socieites deem it UNLAWFUL to commit fornication & adultery. THIS IS REAL! ww

  • Josiah you hit the nail on the head. This brother is providing for his women financially, taking care of their needs, emotionally, physical and spiritual. A least he aint makin no baby momma’s with a baby daddy and not taking responsibility. He is taking responsibility! Go’s to show how far western society has gone. Amazing
