Nick Oliveri has blasted his former Queens of the Stone Age bandmate Josh Homme.
Homme unceremoniously dumped the bassist from the rock outfit in 2003, and it’s something that touches a raw nerve with Oliveri.
Speaking to Gigwise, he bursted: “He sold himself short thinking he is ‘The Guy’, he should be just the Josh Homme band.
“There are so many elements that keep that train moving. It (QOTSA) got to be pretty big so for any one person to think it was just them on their own is just absurd.”
He also hit out at Queen of the Stone Age’s 2005 effort, claiming he “dropped the ball” and the guitars were nowhere to be seen.
Oliveri continued: “When there are a lot of kids following your guitar playing for many years and then you turn round and release something that is so compressed and small, you are fucking them (the fans) over”
“If you are gonna start from zero, and start a new sound, then I wish he would at least give me chance to use the name and do something with it.”

spot on nick, spot on!
Sounds like sour grapes to me. If QOTSA had just made another Songs for the Deaf, it would have been slammed. Yeah, Lullabies to Paralyze has a couple of dodgy tracks but it’s still a damn fine album.
Shut it Oliveri, everybody knows that you’re insane...
I heard the full interview and to me it sounded like someone who got shafted by his mate. Poor ****er.
- charlie wahlie, you arogant man, you cant diss nick, he was an asset to qotsa, why did the 4th album go down...hmm maybe because nick wasnt there.

- QOTSA is always evolving and changing. It was just Nicks turn to go. I think Josh realised he couldnt surpass SFTDeaf with Nick on board, so he had to go for the sake of the band, which is more important than Nicks hurt feelings. Yes, Lullabies sucked, that I agree with, they missed Nick. But... Josh will have learnt from that, the next album should, I hope, be a classic. Keep the faith.
