In a seemingly egotistical outburst, Kasabian have compared themselves to Radiohead.
Speaking to Gigwise, frontman Tom Meighan put his band on a par with Oxford’s finest, saying they are the only two bands who push the boundaries forward with each release.
He told us: “Look at our single ‘Empire’. We’re possibly the only band apart from Radiohead that changes tempo with a new single we’ve put out and no band dares do it, you know.
“We’re like a futuristic Led Zeppelin man with strings on, and electronic on it.”
Meighan also believes that Kasabian gave Radiohead a good run for their money at the V Festival. Both bands played at the same time on different stages at the event.
He continued: “We just turned up and played and we had a wonderful, amazing show. It was wonderful show and the crowd was huge, god I didn’t expect it to be that big but it was and yeah, we gave them a good shout.
“We gave Radiohead a good run. I mean, you’re talking about a band that’s been around for about ten or twelve years, they’re massive and we just put our next single out.
“That’s all we’ve done and it was incredible. The response was wonderful. It was almost as if we were headlining the whole festival, that’s how we felt and Radiohead are amazing.”

Great music speaks for itself.
Is that why he’s always mouthing off then?
Indeed. When was the last time you heard Radiohead mouthing off about how mind-blowing their new album is going to be?
These guys bug my life. Led Zep had Page, JPJ, Plant and Bonzo. Its hard to think of a technically more gifted band. Kasabian have a couple of mouthy twats who idolise Liam Gallagher and have music that is ’catchy’ at best.
Empire is far from epic.
Its nice that you can leave a comment for it to be deleted. Freedom of speech has never felt so good.
Still, this’ll probably be deleted too. Did it have anything to do with the fact that it was running at the same time as your kasabian interview per chance?
The fact remains, however: The album is poor and their egos are too big. Its commercial suicide for Kasabian to be comparing themselves to two such bands. They deserve to be knocked.
