The United States is set to get its own version of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Speculation has been rife for some time that American would adopt the contest, but now plans have become concrete after the European Broadcasting Union sold its rights to the show.
Broadcasting giant NBC is apparently eager to find a show to compete with the viewing monolith ‘American Idol’ shown by Fox.
Obviously, rather than being split into countries, each state in America will be represented in the show.
The programme is likely to be screened over a number of weeks rather than a one-off show.
This year’s Eurovision Song Contest attracted around 110million viewers, which is thought to have been pivotal in the decision to move Stateside.
