Lynryd Skynrd frontman Johnny Van Sant has had emergency surgery to remove his appendix after suffering a potentially fatal infection.
The veteran rocker went under the knife at California’s Stanford University Medical Centre on Thursday night after suffering pain whilst playing gigs in the preceding days.
Manager Ross Schilling told The Sun, “He had been feeling bad the past couple of days. He had performances Tuesday and Wednesday and sucked it up last night as far as performing with some pain."
Lynryd Skynrd have cancelled a series of upcoming gigs, with Van Sant advised to have complete rest or at least a week.
