Franz Ferdinand are to go on a hiatus at the end of this summer Alex Kapranos has revealed.
Kapranos says that after their busy schedule during this year’s festival season they will return home to Scotland and “live a bit of ordinary life again”.
He told the Daily Record: "We have been on the road or in the studio continuously for three years and I think everyone needs to spend some time with their wives or their girlfriends and live a bit of ordinary life again."
He added that the break would help them write more interesting material for the bands third album: "Doing that recharges your batteries and gives you new material to write from, if nothing else."
"I feel that if I kept this life on the road and nothing else then I'd have nothing to write about because I would only have this to draw on - and that's a pretty vacuous subject."
