Officials in Los Angeles are hoping to get new leads in the unsolved murder case of Notorious BIG by offering a new $50,000 reward.
The reward is double that of the original offered for leads following the murder back in 1997 after BIG had left a Vibe magazine party.
According to the BBC Councillor Dennis Zine introduced the measure on Friday (April 7) in a hope that it ill encourage more witnesses to come forwarded.
He said in a statement: "I am hopeful someone will come forward with information which will lead to the eventual apprehension of the murderers involved in this case."
Zine has previously blamed bad detective work by the LAPD for resulting in the city having to pay the family of the rapper $1.1m in compensation.
The money was awarded after it was discovered that the police had intentionally withheld evidence from the family’s civil lawsuit action.
