Canadian Morrissey fans have made a fight back against the star for boycotting the country over its seal ‘culling.’
Fans on the website Stille Post – Canada’s biggest indie music message board – have launched a campaign urging Canadians to boycott buying Morrissey records.
A small minority of the fans are outraged that Morrissey has decided to axe shows in the country because of what he sees are ‘barbaric’ acts, reports the BBC.
As reported on Gigwise yesterday, staunch vegetarian Morrissey said in a statement: “We will not include any Canadian dates on our world tour to promote our new album. This is in protest against the barbaric slaughter of over 325,000 baby seals which is now underway.
“I fully realise that the absence of any Morrissey concerts in Canada is unlikely to bring the Canadian economy to its knees, but it is our small protest against this horrific slaughter - which is the largest slaughter of marine animal species found anywhere on the planet.”
