Boy George has had one charge of cocaine possession dropped in court today (March 8).
The former Culture Club singer appeared in the dock in New York where he admitted wasting police time for falsely reporting a burglary last October.
Because of the time-wasting George – real name George O’Dowd – must pay a $1,000 fine and has been sentenced to five days community service.
The 44-year-old must also attend a drug rehabilitation programme and has to pay $160 in court costs.
As the BBC reports, in a statement released by George he proclaimed his innocence over the drugs and said: "I am relieved and happy that this case has been disposed of.
"I love New York and I'm looking forward to coming back and working in the States later this year."
