    Status Quo have been confirmed as the first headliners of GuilFest 2010.

    The rock veterans, who have sold 118million records since they first hit the charts in 1967, will close the Surrey festival on Sunday July 18th.

    1,000 early bird tickets are on sale for the event until Christmas Eve via the official GuilFest website.

    Guilfest takes place from July 16-18, 2010 at Stoke Park in Guildford. This year's event was headlined by Brian Wilson, The Levellers and Blondie.

    The Beatles' Ringo Starr and Sir Paul McCartney have joined forces on the drummer's new album 'Y Not'.

    Macca sings vocals on two of the album's tracks – 'Peace Dream' and 'Walk With Me' – and Ringo reckons the songs are all the better for it.

    Ringo enthused: "Paul was doing the Grammys, so he came over to the house and was playing bass on 'Peace Dream'.

    "I played him this other track and Paul said, 'Give me the headphones. Give me a pair of cans'. And he went to the mic and he just invented that part where he follows on my vocal. That was all Paul McCartney, and there could be nothing better."

    Interpol are hoping to release their fourth studio album early next year, drummer Sam Fogarino has revealed.

    The sticks man explained that the band weren't entirely happy with their last record 'Our Love To Admire' so this new album will hark back to their 2002 debut 'Turn On The Bright Lights'.

    Speaking to Paste Magazine, Fogarino said: “('Our Love To Admire') was not our most cohesive moment… It was when reality kicked in as to where we were and where we were never going back to.”

    He continued: “The new record falls back towards the first. In trying to move forward, there was an unspoken realization that you can’t let go of your sonic-defining tag.

    Marilyn performed in St Petersburg in Russia last night as part of his European jaunt and unveiled the killer gloves.

    Muse have announced a second Wembley Stadium show in September 2010.

    The trio will play now play the hallowed London venue on Friday September 10 on top of the previously announced show a day later.

    Tickets for their Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Ground show are still available.

    Rod Stewart has announced details of a seven date UK and Ireland arena tour.

    Taking place in May 2010, the music veteran's dates will be his first indoor shows in five years.

    Tickets cost £60 to £70 and are available via the Gigwise Gig Tickets section from 9am next Friday (November 27).

    The jaunt is in support of his new studio album 'Soulbook' which hit the UK top 10 last weekend.

    There was yet more woe on Morrissey's European tour on Tuesday (November 17).

    A fan in the crowd at Morrissey's show at  Hamburg CCH 1 shouted “fuck you” to the staunch vegetarian singer while he was making a joke about hamburgers.

    Morrissey then singled the fan out and said “Go away. We don't need you, we don't need you” while pointing towards the venue's exits.

    The 50-year-old then finished by telling the fan “And you can fuck yourself”. The audience member is eventually exited from the venue.

    Con artists are set to target festivals next summer by selling fake wristbands, an industry expert claims.

    Speaking at the UK Festival Awards conference in London today, Reg Walker from Idrim Security who works with Reading, V, T in the Park and Isle of Wight issued a stark warning.

    Walker alleged there was evidence that fraudsters staged “test runs” in 2009 with a view to hit the festivals on a larger scale next year.

    He explained that around 100 fake wristbands were seized at Reading Festival in August and they were worryingly realistic.

    Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo said the band felt “crushed” when they were first told that one of their fans had gone missing.

    20-year-old student Morgan Dana Harrington was last seen on October 17 outside the John Paul Jones arena in Charlottesville, Virginia where she was attending a Metallica show.

    The band have personally donated $50,000 to a fund appealing for Harrington's safe return, however, she is still missing.

    Describing the moment Metallica found out, Trujillo told The Pulse of Radio: "I mean, I was crushed. Stuff like this just really, really bums me out, especially when you are a parent and you have children.
